Use novelty shapes to widen an assortment without losing SKU control
The current novelty group includes everyday objects, gaming themes, funny shapes and seasonal blind-box products. A buyer can use these as an impulse-gift layer beside core fruit, animal or bun collections instead of replacing the entire assortment with unrelated novelty items.
Keep each shape and seasonal set under its own SKU. Novelty products can differ sharply in dimensions, unit weight, packaging and public price status even when they serve a similar retail role.
Select products by channel and display behavior
Gift shops may prefer immediately recognizable objects such as a controller, dice or pencil. Short-video sellers may prioritize an unusual squeeze demonstration, while seasonal retailers may need blind-box or themed packaging that fits a limited sales window.
Choose the sample shortlist around the intended sales channel and planned retail price, then compare packaging and freight before expanding the number of shapes.
Treat unpriced new seasonal SKUs as quote-only until confirmed
Some newer seasonal novelty products do not carry a verified public unit price in the current catalog. Those cards intentionally show contact-for-price status instead of inventing or copying a price from a visually similar SKU.
For these products, request the current sample, MOQ, price tier, packing version and production schedule in the dated working quotation.
Prepare content and packaging from the approved physical sample
Novelty shapes often rely on visual details that matter in photos and short video. Confirm dimensions, decoration, seam quality, squeeze behavior and packaging before creating final retail content.
If private-label packaging is required, supply barcode, label and artwork requirements with the quote request so the packaging plan can be priced together with the product.
