Write the set specification before ordering components
Create a set identifier and list every component beneath it. Include the product SKU, variant, pieces per set, individual package, outer package and any approved insert or card.
If the set uses an assorted component, define the allowed selection. A promise of one ghost and one pumpkin requires fixed identities. A promise of two assorted toys is different and should be explained in the retail description.

Trial the layout with finished packages

Do not solve a shortage by quietly replacing a component. Get written approval for the revised set and update the retail offer if the contents change. Any additional parts supplied for rework should be counted separately from saleable complete sets.
Make assembly repeatable
Prepare one approved reference set and a simple packing instruction. Define which components go into each position, the direction of the visible face and where the insert or card belongs.
At the start of assembly, check the first finished units against the reference. Repeat checks when a component lot or package changes. Record incomplete sets separately so they do not enter finished inventory.
An assembly record can track components issued, complete sets produced, unused parts and rejected or damaged units. The totals should reconcile. This is an inventory control, not a substitute for the relevant product quality and documentation review.
Identify the finished retail unit correctly
If the outer package is sold as one gift, distinguish its set-level SKU or barcode from those on individual components. Ask the retailer or fulfillment partner which identifier should be visible at receiving and checkout.
Keep required product information available in the finished presentation. Packaging design should not cover information that the recipient needs. Review the proposed combined pack with the responsible product and packaging specialists for the destination.
The product listing should show the actual number of included items. Seasonal props and packaging mockups should not imply additional contents or a more elaborate package than the buyer will receive.
